Rose Quarter Horses & Training Centre hosts yearly summer camps for children ages 7 & up. It is a way for children to spend a fun week(s) learning about horses and having fun with other children who have similar interests. Camps are held during August and include horsemanship, stable management, horse health and 2 lessons per day - either english or western. Other activities include swimming, games on and off the horses and working with the younger horses from newborns to green broke. New in 2005, all of the advanced group had a chance to teach a yearling to lunge and to sack them out, it was a huge success and everyone had a different situation to experience. It was not easy but they got the job done. Congratulations.
The beginner groups get to learn safe riding on reliable horses. Most students are cantering in their first week. And are handeling the horses with great confidence.

At the advanced summer camp for 2007 the students decided that they would like to train 2 year olds. So they paired up and took on the task, in the first day they had their babies lunging both ways quite nicely. By day 2 they lunged them again, put saddles on them & lunged again (they did have some problems & worked through them beautifully) . On day 3 they lunged with saddles again & all the groups were able to ride their horses. Way to go everyone. By Friday everyone was riding their 2 yr olds unaided in the arena. They were all riding together at the same time, it was very impressive and the kids did an excellent job. I am very proud of their accomplishment and I hope they are too. Way to go everyone. We had an excellent week!
